The most powerful Anybus Defender available — a DC-powered, high-performance rack-mounted industrial security appliance with 15 physical network segments and the complete PRO/FW feature set. The Defender 8429 DC delivers maximum port density with 9x Gigabit LAN and 6x SFP ports, powered by 24V DC for industrial environments with DC power distribution and UPS integration.

Full PRO/FW capabilities across all 15 segments: Deep Packet Inspection on Ethernet/IP CIP and Modbus with auto-learn, virtual patching via Snort and Suricata IPS, advanced VPN (WireGuard, OpenSSL, IPsec), RADIUS/LDAP/AD authentication, DHCP server, policy scheduling, captive portal, advanced routing (RIP, BGP), load balancing with multi-WAN, traffic shaping and high availability redundancy.

Purpose-built for large-scale industrial control rooms, substations and critical infrastructure sites that require maximum fiber connectivity on a DC power bus. 6x SFP ports support 1Gig LC Fiber (multi-mode or single-mode) or additional RJ45 — ideal for connecting multiple fiber backbone segments, distant buildings and high-EMI environments. Configuration via web GUI, RESTful API and CLI. Optional central management via the Anybus Cybersecurity Console.

The Defender 8429 is the high-performance variant of the 8029. Same 19" rackmount form factor and 15 segments, but with upgraded processing capacity and 6x SFP (vs 2x) for environments requiring maximum port density, DPI, VPN and traffic shaping throughput. Also available as Defender 8429-AC with 100-240V AC power. For standard throughput requirements, see the Defender 8029. For DIN rail deployments, see the Defender 6019 or Defender 6004.
